A couple of weeks ago my 6 year old was going to a birthday party at Wroxham Barns (which she thoroughly enjoyed and she is desperate to go back and feed more baby animals!) so my husband and I had a couple of hours to ourselves. We decided to spend that time exploring Wroxham, a town neither of us knew very well.
We parked in a pay-and-display just outside the centre but there is plenty of free parking in the town if you’re doing any shopping at Roys. In case you are not familiar with Roys, they own pretty much everything in Wroxham, it’s a bit odd actually – Roys Toys, Roys Department Store, Roys Garden Centre… the list goes on and on
If you want to spend a day on the Broads there are plenty of places hiring boats out, everything from canoes to big 12 person party boats! We skipped that and just went for a walk around the town and along the water’s edge. There are some beautiful (huge!) swans swimming about and we saw plenty of people feeding bread to the various water fowl.
Before heading off to pick up our daughter we had time to stop off at a pub for a quick drink. The Kings Head is right in the town centre and has a lovely beer garden overlooking the water. Dogs are welcome and it was a really nice place.
There are plenty of little gift shops and places to get chips, ice creams and mementos as well as a tourist information place in case you’d like to find out more about the area. Have you been to Wroxham? What do you think of the town? Let us know in the comments!
