Norfolk is an incredibly diverse British county, steeped in history and culture. Every year, Norfolk attracts eager visitors who frequent its beautiful beaches, museums and stately homes.

Regardless of your preferences or tastes, you will find an activity or day out to suit your needs.

However, if you are an adrenaline junkie, or someone who simply can’t stay contained long enough for a museum visit, we have compiled a list of unmissable places for you to add to your Norfolk ‘to-visit’ list. Whether you are a permanent resident, passing through or enjoying a Norfolk holiday, be sure to experience everything below and live Norfolk life to the fullest.

Have an epic family adventure at BeWILDerwood

If you have children and are looking for a unique, active and entertaining day out, consider visiting the outdoor adventure park of BeWILDerwood. This venue has become increasingly popular with tourists, and there are endless things to do and see.

Adults will enjoy BeWILDerwood just as much as their children while exploring the tree houses, jungle bridges, zip lines, marsh walks and boat trips. When your child finally exhausts themselves, you can even settle them down with a storytelling session while you grab something delicious to eat.

Get surfing at the Glide Surf School

Norfolk is known for its stunning, sprawling beaches. Anyone visiting the area should consider taking advantage of them and trying their hand at surfing. A day learning to surf will certainly provide you with stories and break up the educational museum trips. On top of this, it provides unbeatable exercise; something you will certainly realise the next day.

The Glide Surf School in Cromer, Norfolk has been running since 2007 and runs seven days a week, from April right until the end of October. You can book either private surfing lessons or group sessions, available at varying levels and for all ages. The school also offers lessons in stand up paddle boarding (SUP), a watersport rapidly growing in popularity. It’s a challenge, but it is definitely an experience not to be missed!

Explore the Norfolk Broads in a canoe

Everyone knows about the Norfolk Broads, and you simply have to explore the Broads while you’re in the area. Keep your eye out for the breath-taking wildlife and the stunning views — and if you want to take the experience to the next level, you can do all of this by hiring your very own canoe.

This is possibly the best way to take the sightseeing into your own hands. You can decide where you want to go and what you want to see, while the more adventurous among you can sniff out areas of the Broads that are hidden away and not as frequented.

Go paintballing with friends or family

There are a number of paintballing venues in Norfolk, and if you’re looking for an active day, paintballing is certainly a great option! It really gets your adrenaline pumping and your mind racing while you cook up strategies and dodge the paint pellets. Whether you are going with friends or family, it can prove to be a real bonding experience and builds a very satisfying sense of teamwork. Remember to dress suitably! Don’t wear anything you’d hate to get drenched in paint.

For the ultimate adventure, climb and swing from ropes and trees

Extreeme Adventure is for the bravest of adventurers — and the ones who have no fear of heights. For those who can stomach the idea of being at least twenty feet in the air while tackling swinging platforms, zip wires and rope bridges, then this is definitely the perfect day out for you. One of the highlights of this venue is the giant 3G swing, which can be winched up to an incredible height of 45 feet before being released. If, on the other hand, you’d prefer a day of tree climbing, you can also be harnessed in and climb to a height of 65 feet.
