Years ago I used to be a huge part of the Norwich alternative scene. I’d spend evenings at the Marquee and Chains on Velvet, trawling around Norwich market and sitting outside C&A (now Next). I’d be buying huge flared cords, band t-shirts while wearing stripey socks and coloured Acuvue lenses.
The scene has changed over the years but there’s still plenty in the city for those of you that love music, alternative clothing and quirky little shops.
The Waterfront is a great venue for live music and club nights. There’s the regular 80’s, 90s and 00s nights. Plus club nights to suit every music taste from weekly Indie to metal, goth, Reggae, industrial, alternative rock and much more.

Norwich Arts Centre
Another great music venue is the Norwich Arts Centre. You can see some great local bands there but there are also fairs, comedians, festivals and exhibitions.

A more intimate venue, showcasing some great live bands and DJs, is the Rumsey Wells. It boasts an impressive ale selection too.
St. Andrews Street, Norwich, NR2 4AF

The Brickmakers and B2
The Brickmakers and the B2 venue are also great places to go if you love music. The Brickmakers has more of a pub vibe and showcases bands who play all sorts of covers. So, if you want to hear some old favourites it’s the place to be. B2 is more about showing off original bands. You’ll find well-known locals as well as bands from further afield playing here.

A lively little pub with great entertainment, cupcakes and a book club. Great if you want to go somewhere a bit more special than a faceless club.
23 Pottergate, Norwich, Nr2 1DS.

There will be more of my suggestions for great places to visit in Norwich soon. In the meantime, is there anywhere you think should be added to this list?
