Get your craft on: Artisan’s Alphabet

There is a wonderful new craft club in Norwich city centre which gives you the opportunity to try out a new skill every two weeks. The Artisan’s Alphabet project was started by Maria Crutchley at the beginning of this year and she’s aiming to go through the entire alphabet of crafts, one fortnight at a time. The club meets on Wednesday evenings at the Cherryleaf Coffee House on St Giles Street. Most of the events are free and while you’ve already missed out on baking a sour dough and learning some letter writing skills there are some really lovely events planned in the near future including card making this Wednesday, 12 February, just in time for Valentine’s day. I am especially looking forward to spoon whittling on Wednesday 12th March! To find out more you can join the Artisan’s Alpahabet Facebook group or follow @ArtisansABC on Twitter. Let us know if you make it to any of the...

Marriott Sprowston Manor Leisure Club

I recently joined the Marriott Sprowston Manor Leisure club along with my husband. Set in a gorgeous manor house surrounded by an immaculate 18 hole golf course, the petite Leisure Club is packed with facilities. The first thing you will see is the pool area. The main pool is 13 metres long and will comfortably take 5 or 6 people swimming lengths. There’s a smaller section to the side for kids and regular aqua-fit classes as well as a shallow splash pool for babies and toddlers. To the rear of the room is a large jacuzzi and you’ll also find a sauna and steam room next to the poolside eating area. There are plenty of loungers if you want to relax, both inside and out. The gym area is small and delightfully cool! There’s a good selection of resistance weight machines as well as dumbbells up to 30kg. While that’s enough if you’re just starting your foray into fitness, or not looking to build your strength too much, these simply aren’t heavy enough for my husband. You’ll also find three treadmills, a couple of cross trainers, bikes and rowing machines. There’s a small area for stretches and core work too. The treadmills have a great training programme to help you with your workouts and you can watch TV on most of the equipment too. The Sprowston Manor Leisure Club...
