Purdy’s Tea Room is tucked away in Woodgate Nursery and is a haven for those of us who love a trip to a garden centre cafe. There are a lot of people dedicated to finding the perfect weekend venue for their gardening needs as well as their desire for a cream tea, if you’re one of those people (like me), give Purdy’s a visit.
The thing that really stood out was the friendly staff who were full of smiles as we ordered our food. I’m weak when it comes to burgers so I had to go for the special, while my other half went for the pastrami and tomato sandwich.
The food is simple but delicious. My burger was closer to something that would be served at a family barbecue (and that’s not a bad thing) than a gourmet dish and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The burger came on its own stuffed full of salad, cheese and bacon. The relish that accompanied it was deliciously sweet, the perfect complement to the meaty burger. For a lunchtime stop, it was the perfect amount of food.
Overall, this is a lovely little tea room with a simple menu, friendly staff and great prices. Take a look at the Woodgate Nursery website for more information!
