Purdy’s Tea Room is tucked away in Woodgate Nursery and is a haven for those of us who love a trip to a garden centre cafe. There are a lot of people dedicated to finding the perfect weekend venue for their gardening needs as well as their desire for a cream tea, if you’re one of those people (like me), give Purdy’s a visit.

IMG_9742The thing that really stood out was the friendly staff who were full of smiles as we ordered our food. I’m weak when it comes to burgers so I had to go for the special, while my other half went for the pastrami and tomato sandwich.

IMG_9751The interior of the tea room is lovely with a vintage feel but on this occasion we decided to sit outside in the sunshine with our pot of tea.

IMG_9743The food is simple but delicious. My burger was closer to something that would be served at a family barbecue (and that’s not a bad thing) than a gourmet dish and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The burger came on its own stuffed full of salad, cheese and bacon. The relish that accompanied it was deliciously sweet, the perfect complement to the meaty burger. For a lunchtime stop, it was the perfect amount of food.

IMG_9748We followed our food with cake (despite being quite full). I can highly recommend the lemon drizzle!

IMG_9754The garden centre itself is lovely too. Everything is beautifully laid out with signs that let you know exactly which plants will work in your garden.

IMG_9759For someone like me, that’s really useful as I need a bit of a helping hand when it comes to this stuff!

Overall, this is a lovely little tea room with a simple menu, friendly staff and great prices. Take a look at the Woodgate Nursery website for more information!
