I’ve just got back from an amazing trip to Turkey and I had no intention of reviewing the trip here. That was until we bumped into a guy called Deniz. As it turns out, he used to live in Norfolk and his daughter lives in Wymondham. He revealed that he owned a restaurant in Hisoranu where we were staying. It made sense to visit.
We sat outside near the road and quickly ordered a drinks. The choice of wine was quite basic, we chose the red. There was a lot of choice on the menu, however. It took us a long time to choose what to eat.
On of my companions had the fillet steak, which was amazingly cheap at about £11. It look delicious and was cooked perfectly. It was seasoned wit salt and oregano, which gave it a more interesting flavour that most steaks I’ve had. It’s a flavour I was tasting throughout the trip.
We ate a lot of good food while on holiday but this is one of the places that really stood out. Unfortunately we ran out of time and I didn’t get to try their baklava but I’m pretty sure we’ll be going back.
It’s on the road from Ovacik to Hisaronu. If you’re staying in the Greenland Hotel (as we did, highly recommended), it’s a short taxi/bus ride or a 30 minute walk.
