I had the pleasure of going out for a meal at a very unusual restaurant in Sheringham over the weekend. The Bank is right in the centre of the town and serves amazing Nepalese and Asian food.

I’m quite a fan of Indian food so knew I’d like this place. If the Nepalese food wasn’t to my liking then I knew I’d be quite happy with a Buna or Biryani.

I started the meal with a glass of Cobra beer and the squid ring starter. I’m a bit fussy when it comes to squid. I love the subtle flavour but can’t bear to eat tentacles. I had to ask and was assured there would be no tentacles. Of course, squid isn’t always the most flavourful food but this has a beautiful slightly fishy taste that as complimented by all sorts of spices.

For main I had a Nepalese beef curry. It was fantastic. No tentacles there either.

We also shared some cheesy naan bread. This is a new take on naan bread, which I know I’m already a fan of, and I was blown away. It’s a little bit decadent and I felt a little naughty dipping it into my curry.

The service was fantastic as the staff were attentive and helpful. We were a big group in an otherwise-empty restaurant, though.

I’d thoroughly recommend this place. The decor is beautiful, the service great and the food is out of this world.
